Catching Up

Ah... at last... my first post ever on this blog :P
Let see... I didn't quite done much since I open this blog, so it's time for catching up the train, shall we?

First, this is the first papermodel I've ever seriously built: the SD Gundam Ver. Ka from Mr. June.
Built it in so much lousy times, it took me a year to finish :P Shame on me. Plus another thing, my dearest digital camera went broken in the middle of building process. Purrrffffecccttt....
So, let's see...

This is the head...

It took me some time before I can start building, since I had to colorize the pattern for printing, and I'd been experimenting with the paper.

Finally I choose some drawing paper from A3 drawing books for this model. Not exactly satisfy with it, since the color print outs looks faded, but the thickness is about right for this kind of purpose.

Saw the resulting Gundam head, this 'project' began to excite me :)

This is the upper torso...

Not much to tell, but I learned from first timer mistakes, specially for handling tight corners.

By the look of it, it wasn't that bad, wasn't it?

The rest of it... is history.
My camera's CCD went kaput not long after I finish the upper torso. It had been three great years of service, maybe it was just the time for it. Well, no regrets. Had to find a new camera though...

Some time around third quarter of this (or last?, oh well, it's 2008 anyway) year, I found myself a new camera, so let's fire up:

Behold, the SD Gundam Ver. Ka!!

A very nice model we got here. Mr. June has done a wonderful job design this one.

I haven't quite satisfy with the color job I did to this model, the choice of paper was to blame.

Let's see around, the back of this thing;

Nice details, don't you think? Too bad I didn't take lower angle on those thrusters, you can see the details Mr. June made (well, I didn't quite made them right though).

It had been a very great experience, building this model. It's simple actually, but still somewhat detailed. Very nice result, too.

All I can say is, I can't wait to build another Gundam papercraft :)

Oh, if you interested in getting the pattern for this paper model, you should contact Mr. June on his blog, just leave a comment on his post on this particular model or the SD Guncannon (there are other models from him, but those are for sale), indicating your interest in them. Don't forget to leave your e-mail address also, so he can reach you.

So go get it, you won't be disappointed :)

See you on another papercraft project!
